Minor Disaster Games is developing a big-box expansion for Trouble on the Tempus, a cooperative time-travel game. The project will introduce environmental flight conditions and external hazards capable of changing the ship’s internal rules depending on its location in deep space.

The design team confirmed that work on the expansion is underway during Tabletop Scotland, held at the Royal Highland Centre. There is no exact release date yet, but the aim is to have players adapt their repair, crisis-management and time-movement strategies to external cosmic events.

The situations mentioned include gravitational distortions near black holes and system failures during cosmic radiation storms. With these environmental modifiers, the Tempus’s physical position in the galaxy will begin to affect conditions on the board inside the ship’s corridors, changing the basic rules from one round to the next.

The expansion marks a step forward from the previous card-based additions. In the core game, players move through the Tempus’s decks to repair damaged subsystems, put out fires and progress along the time tracks before cascading failures destroy the ship.

The announcement capped a busy weekend for the publisher in Ingliston. During the event, Minor Disaster Games sold out its entire stock of foldable, ship-shaped neoprene playmats. Originally created as lightweight materials for convention demonstrations, they were later made available to backers and visitors after strong demand during the original campaign. Another print run may take place in the future.

The publisher also brought large character meeples exclusive to conventions. The wooden pieces replace the ship’s standard markers and remain unavailable through regular retail and online stores. Minor Disaster Games still has to finalize its crowdfunding plans and release previews of the expansion’s rules.
