About Surrak, the Hunt Caller

Surrak, the Hunt Caller, Legendary creature — human warrior, designed by Wesley Burt first released in Mar, 2015 in the set Dragons of Tarkir Promos and was printed exactly in 4 different ways. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of 0.98.

Surrak, the Hunt Caller would be a strong addition to a deck focused on aggressive creature strategies, particularly in a green-based deck with a high power creature curve. While Surrak's ability to grant haste can be impactful, there may be better options depending on the specific deck archetype, such as Questing Beast or Ghalta, Primal Hunger, which offer more immediate value or game-ending potential. However, Surrak could still see play in decks looking to push through damage quickly and efficiently.

Rules

02/25/15

If you control a creature with power less than 0, use its actual power when calculating the total power of creatures you control. For example, if you control three creatures with powers 4, 5, and -2, the total power of creatures you control is 7.

02/25/15

Other formidable abilities are triggered abilities with an “intervening ‘if’” clause. Such abilities check the total power of creatures you control twice: once at the appropriate time to see if the ability will trigger, and again as the ability tries to resolve. If, at that time, the total power of creatures you control is no longer 8 or greater, the ability will have no effect.
