Laquatus's Champion could be a valuable addition to a mono-black control deck focused on draining the opponent's life total. While it provides a significant life swing upon entering and leaving the battlefield, its high mana cost and vulnerability to removal may limit its effectiveness. Other cards like Gray Merchant of Asphodel, which has a similar draining effect and can be more easily cast, might be a better choice for decks aiming to drain the opponent's life consistently. Overall, Laquatus's Champion could see play in specific strategies but may not be a staple in competitive decks.
