Stalking Stones could be beneficial in a control deck that aims to have versatile mana sources and the ability to turn lands into creatures for additional threats. However, there are potentially better options like Mutavault, which can become a creature without the need for additional mana investment, making it more efficient in aggressive strategies. Stalking Stones could see play in certain niche decks that value its unique abilities, but it may not be a staple in most competitive decks.

A noncreature permanent that turns into a creature can attack, and its abilities can be activated, only if its controller has continuously controlled that permanent since the beginning of their most recent turn. It doesn’t matter how long the permanent has been a creature.
