Tabletop Scotland is counting down to its 2026 edition, set to take place from September 4 to 6 at the Royal Highland Centre in Ingliston, Edinburgh. Run entirely by volunteers, the event brings together fans of board games, role-playing games, card games and miniatures for three days devoted to tabletop gaming.The convention welcomed more than 4,250 visitors in 2025, a 9% increase on the previous year. The move to the Royal Highland Centre created logistical challenges for some attendees travelling from central Edinburgh, but the venue has capacity for more than 130 exhibitors and the UK's largest scheduled programme of Dungeons & Dragons events.The 2026 edition will also feature a new hall layout, including a Family Zone developed in partnership with HABA and Imagination Gaming. The area will explore how non-digital games support literacy, maths and logical reasoning skills among young people. Children and teenagers under 16 will receive free admission when accompanied by a paying adult.The Scottish Huntington’s Association has been selected as the event's official charity. Visitors will be able to support the organisation directly during the convention, which aims to build on the £36,000 raised for good causes since Tabletop Scotland launched in 2018.Dave Wright, Tabletop Scotland's lead organiser, said the event's growth over the past three years has not changed its focus on creating an inclusive, accessible community space. He said the programme for families and educators will feature specialists showcasing alternatives to screen-based gaming.The programme includes an open board game library, tournaments and booths from independent publishers. Hachette Boardgames UK, Coiledspring Games and Scottish shop Thistle Tavern will be among the participants, bringing family strategy titles, card games and other tabletop systems. Tabletop Scotland 2026 runs from Friday, September 4, to Sunday, September 6.
