Renegade Game Studios has unveiled the rules for Heroscape: Expeditions, a new scenario-driven game mode that brings Heroscape into a dungeon-crawling format. The mode launches with the Secrets of Citadel era.

In Expeditions, players assemble parties of adventurers and enter a modular dungeon in search of treasure. Each party consists of any eight army cards, allowing for different combinations within the rules outlined by the publisher.

The rules and the first five dungeon setups are now available online through the Renegade Game Studios website. This initial material lays the groundwork for the first Heroscape: Expeditions games, while the publisher prepares further additions to the mode.

Renegade said new content will be released monthly, including Dungeon Rooms, Scenarios and other materials. The initiative expands the ways Heroscape can be played beyond its traditional battle format, with games built around scenarios and modular environments.

The new mode is also designed for casual events at local game stores. According to Renegade Game Studios, Heroscape: Expeditions could help stores bring groups of players together and guide them toward competitive Heroscape events.

The rules have been introduced alongside the launch of the Secrets of Citadel era, which serves as the starting point for this exploration experience. With the first five setups already published and new content planned every month, Renegade is beginning to outline how this format will expand within Heroscape.
