KessCo will soon bring Origins of Light: A Final Fantasy Board Game to Kickstarter. The cooperative strategy board game is being produced as part of the company’s licensing agreement with Square Enix.

The project was previously unveiled at MagicCon: Las Vegas under the name Final Fantasy Saga: The Board Game. In Origins of Light, two to four players form a party of heroes, equip their characters with spells and gear, and venture through dungeons in search of monsters.

The dungeons are also home to powerful bosses. The party must defeat them before time runs out, making resource management and the team’s progress central to the cooperative experience.

The game’s main campaign revolves around a module based on Final Fantasy I. Players can then level up their characters to take on the Final Fantasy II module, followed by the Final Fantasy III module, which is described as a greater challenge.

The game brings together three chapters of the series in a progression-based structure for the party. The released material does not provide a start date for the Kickstarter campaign or details about the price, edition or crowdfunding duration.

Origins of Light: A Final Fantasy Board Game will be recommended for players aged 12 and up. KessCo is still expected to bring the project to the crowdfunding platform, where the game’s next details will be revealed.
