Renegade Game Studios has announced Steam Kingdom, a tile-placement game set in an underwater steampunk world. It is scheduled for release in March, although the publisher has not announced a specific date.

Created by Steven Carlson and Seth Jaffee, the designers of Crusaders: They Will Be Done and Eminent Domain, Steam Kingdom follows the discovery of a long-lost city on the ocean floor. Players compete to explore and rebuild the site through a network of nautilus tubes, guiding its development according to their own plans.

The game revolves around placing tiles in a shared network. As they expand the city, players must manage their resources and look for combinations on the board that match their project cards. These combinations earn points throughout the game.

Steam Kingdom is designed for two to four players, with games lasting just under an hour. The box includes 71 city tiles, 59 cards, four resource tracks, 64 markers, a first-player marker and a scoring pad.

The Sunken Treasures expansion is also included. It adds 20 treasure cards and six markers to the core experience, expanding the options available as players rebuild the sunken city.

The suggested retail price is US$ 45. Steam Kingdom will be released after the reworked edition of Dungeons & Dragons: Castle Ravenloft Board Game, which Renegade has scheduled for February. The company also announced the renewal of its partnership with Hasbro and said it will end its publishing partnership with White Wolf at the end of the year.
