A control or pillow fort deck that aims to limit opponents' options and protect itself would benefit from using Mystic Barrier, as it can help dictate the flow of combat and protect the player from being attacked by multiple opponents. While Mystic Barrier can be a fun and unique addition to a deck, there are arguably better cards like Propaganda or Ghostly Prison that provide similar effects more consistently and at a lower cost, making them more viable options in competitive play. However, Mystic Barrier could still see play in more casual or themed decks looking to create interesting gameplay dynamics.

In some formats, you may need to disregard teammates sitting between you and the opponent seated nearest you in the chosen direction. In formats like Emperor, other rules may prohibit you from attacking that player.

Mystic Barrier affects only what players and planeswalkers each player may attack with creatures they control. It doesn’t affect what players may be targeted by spells or abilities or other interactions.
