This card, Grid Monitor, could be beneficial in a control deck that focuses on non-creature spells and strategies, as it restricts the opponent's ability to cast creature spells. However, there are likely better options available such as Ensnaring Bridge or Moat, which provide similar effects with additional benefits. Overall, Grid Monitor may not see much play in competitive Magic: the Gathering decks due to its restrictive nature and the availability of more powerful alternatives.
