A deck that focuses on disruption and gaining life would benefit from including Purge the Profane, such as a control or midrange deck looking to disrupt the opponent's hand while gaining some life to stabilize the game. However, there are more efficient options available, such as Thoughtseize or Inquisition of Kozilek, which provide more impactful hand disruption for the same or lower mana cost. Purge the Profane could see play in certain budget or casual decks, but competitive decks would likely opt for more powerful hand disruption options.
