A control or midrange deck that aims to protect key threats from removal spells would benefit from including Horror of the Dim in its deck, as the ability to give it hexproof can make it difficult for opponents to deal with. However, there are better options available, such as creatures with built-in protection or evasion abilities like Shalai, Voice of Plenty or Thrun, the Last Troll, which offer more consistent protection. Overall, Horror of the Dim may not see much play in competitive decks due to its high mana cost and vulnerability to removal.
