Modiphius Entertainment will open preorders on August 20 for Readers Digested: A Discworld Board Game, a new licensed board game based on the universe created by Terry Pratchett. The story takes place during Reading Week, when the students of Unseen University turn the institution into a scene of chaos.

Players take on the roles of assistant librarians tasked with restoring order and escorting disoriented students to the examination hall. The game combines the usual mayhem of the wizards’ university with a licensed reinterpretation of Blue Moon City, a game created by designer Reiner Knizia.

Readers Digested is designed for 2 to 4 players, with games expected to last around 60 minutes. Modiphius will offer two versions: a standard edition and a deluxe edition with upgraded components and rules for solo play.

The preorders will also come with an additional incentive. Customers who reserve the game in advance will receive a bonus board piece, adding another way to represent Discworld’s chaos during play.

The deluxe edition should be of particular interest to solo players, while the standard version focuses on multiplayer sessions for groups of up to four. In both editions, the starting point is the same task: dealing with panicked students, bumbling wizards and librarians trying to keep Reading Week from descending into complete chaos.

The suggested retail price is listed as US$ 99,99, although that figure is still considered an estimate and may correspond to the deluxe edition. Readers Digested: A Discworld Board Game will go up for preorder on August 20.
